Overview
tvshowly is a daily TV show deduction game designed for fun and entertainment. We take your privacy seriously and aim to keep things simple and transparent.
tvshowly includes both public game features and optional signed-in features like My Shows, Tonight, Connections, notifications, and account management. We do not use your data for advertising profiles or cross-site tracking.
Information We Collect
Personal Information
If you choose to create or use an account, we may collect and store limited account information such as:
- Email addresses
- Authentication provider information, such as Apple or Google
- Basic profile fields such as display name or avatar URL when provided
You can still play the games without creating an account.
Gameplay Data
tvshowly stores limited gameplay data in your browser to make the game work as expected across refreshes and return visits. This may include:
- Your guesses for a given puzzle date
- Your streak count
- The last date you solved a puzzle
This information:
- Exists only in your browser
- May remain until you clear your browser storage
- Is not sent to or stored on our servers
Saved Shows and Personal Features
If you sign in, tvshowly stores the shows you save and lightweight status selections such as Watching, Interested, or Caught Up.
This information is used to power My Shows, Tonight suggestions, account pages, Connections-related features, and related product features.
If you choose to provide them, tvshowly may also store your selected streaming services and networks so we can tailor recommendations, highlight shows that may not be included in your current subscriptions, and improve features like Tonight, My Shows, and related discovery tools. This information is optional and can be updated or removed at any time.
tvshowly is intentionally lightweight and does not currently support episode-by-episode tracking, messaging, or social feeds.
Connections, Notifications, and In-App Sharing
If you choose to use Connections, tvshowly may store invite and connection relationship data, in-app notifications, and records of shows shared to one of your accepted connections.
This information is used to support optional product features such as accepted connections, connection invites, notification history, social recommendation surfaces, Watching With, and in-app show sharing.
Accepted connections may see limited in-app signals derived from your saved-show states, such as aggregated recommendations or lightweight labels indicating that a connection is watching, has saved, or is caught up on a show. These features are intended to stay inside tvshowly and are not public profiles or public feeds.
Authentication
tvshowly uses Supabase Authentication for email magic links and optional Apple or Google sign-in.
When you sign in, authentication and session data may be handled by Supabase as part of securely providing account access.
Analytics
tvshowly uses Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic and basic performance information.
- This helps us understand overall usage trends and site health
- We do not use this for advertising, behavioral profiling, or cross-site tracking
We may review basic technical logs (e.g., server errors) to ensure the site is functioning properly.
Cookies and Local Storage
tvshowly uses minimal browser storage and session mechanisms to make the site work. This may include:
- local storage or similar browser storage to remember daily game progress, streaks, and related game state on your device
- authentication/session cookies or similar session mechanisms to keep signed-in users logged in and enable features like My Shows, Tonight, and account pages
We do not use cookies or browser storage for:
- advertising
- cross-site tracking
- building advertising profiles
We also use Vercel Analytics for aggregate traffic and performance information.
You can clear browser storage or cookies at any time in your browser settings, though doing so may reset saved game state or sign you out.
Sharing Features
tvshowly allows users to share results, public show pages, and show recommendations to accepted connections inside the app. These sharing features:
- Are initiated by the user
- Do not automatically post content anywhere
- May create a public link to a show page when you choose to share one externally
- May create an in-app notification when you share a show with an accepted connection
Third-Party Data Sources
tvshowly uses external entertainment data providers, including TMDb and TVMaze, to support search, metadata, and scheduling-related product features.
Children’s Privacy
tvshowly is a general-audience game and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
As tvshowly evolves, we may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features or capabilities. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
